Fitness Age Testing

Age vs FitnessAge

A 42 year old can have a FitnessAge of 64 or 24, depending on how well they have looked after themselves. For example, if this 42 year old had neglected their health and fitness and their FitnessAge is 64, this means they are performing at the same level as the average 64 year old.

On the flip side, look at fitness legend Jack LaLanne. The original workout king is 86, but his daily workouts help him maintain the physical condition of an average 29 year old.

The Motivation Effect

No fitness program can get off the ground without motivation. Typically, the catalyst that causes people to change their habits and take fitness seriously is something personal.

Maybe they didn't like the look of themselves in a photo, or maybe a recent health scare got them moving. FitnessAge operates in a similar way. When an individual is provided with health information presented as a comparative age, these instantly understood results act as an impetus for lasting health improvements. FitnessAge has given 200,000 people the motivation to make the changes they need to lose weight, get in shape and increase their daily energy.

Why FitnessAge Was Created

In late 1997, FitnessAge set out to change the course of fitness. Although fitness equipment sales were at an all time high, the incidence of heart disease, obesity and serious health concerns was rising faster than at any other time in history. Breakthroughs in technology and in the fitness industry offered endless opportunities for individuals to assess their health level and develop better habits, yet few embraced them. Real change was not taking place, and it was clear that a revolutionary approach to personal fitness and wellbeing was needed.

FitnessAge Theory On Aging

Ever wondered whether you’re aging faster or slower than you should be? After reaching the age of 21, your chronological age has very little meaning or relevance when compared to the physical condition of your body and overall health. Aging doesn't happen with just the rising and setting of the sun, but rather is heavily influenced by how you treat your body.

FitnessAge results help you to understand where you're doing well and where you can improve. You'll discover that knowing your FitnessAge provides a tangible incentive to establish and maintain positive health habits.

The Surgeon General's Findings

The 1996 Surgeon General's report on Physical Activity and Health made the following remarkable statements: Physical inactivity is among the strongest risk factors for death, more so than cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and obesity. 45 million Americans are totally sedentary. Inactive or sedentary lifestyle accounts for 250,000 deaths each year and is responsible for one third of all coronary heart disease, colon cancer, and diabetes.
